Suha Najjar Suha Najjar, Founder and Chief Executive

Suha began her career in 1994 at Flemings, now JP Morgan, as an equity analyst covering Eastern Europe and the Middle East. She later joined Nomura International in London as Head of Middle East and North Africa research and spent 12 years as an emerging markets equity analyst in the City of London. During her time in equity research, Suha obtained high industry ranking from Extel, Reuters and Emerging Markets Investor, and published numerous reports on the economies of the MENA region. In 2006, she joined National Bank of Kuwait as a Director of its Investment Banking operation. A founding member of the Iraqi National Business Council, Suha is an Iraqi/British national and holds a BSc and Postgraduate Diploma in Economics from Sussex University and two master degrees, MSc in Economics and MSc in Finance from the University of London.

Omar Masri Omar Masri, Founder and Board Director

Omar is the Group Managing Director of Edgo, a prominent regional oil & gas group with operations throughout the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. Edgo has a robust operation in Iraq in oilfield services, power generation and construction, operating out of its bases in Baghdad, Erbil, as well as from its Edgo Services Center North Rumaila, Basra. Prior to joining Edgo, Omar established and became Managing Director of Atlas Investment Group in 1996, a leading investment banking boutique operating in the Middle East and North Africa. In 2004, the Arab Bank group acquired Atlas and made it the bank’s investment banking arm (AB Invest), and Omar was appointed as Arab Bank’s first Global Head of Investment Banking. Prior to Atlas, Omar was a Fund Manager at Foreign & Colonial Emerging Markets in London, managing over $150 million, and where he structured and managed the first, regional Middle East and North Africa investment fund, which was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. He is currently a board member of several financial institutions and NGOs in the region. Omar has a B.B.A. in Finance from the George Washington University and completed a two-year, intensive wholesale credit-training program at the Philadelphia National Bank/Wharton Business School in the United States. Omar has been a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) since 2001 and was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Elwy Taymour Elwy M. Taymour, Founder and Board Director

An industry veteran who has worked in major financial centers like London and New York, Elwy was Vice President of securities brokerage at EFG-Hermes and a member of the firm’s board of directors for four years before accepting a post in the Investment Banking division at Merrill Lynch International in London, United Kingdom. Taymour was later vice president of sales at Auerbach Grayson & Co., where he was responsible for selling and marketing Egyptian and Middle Eastern equities. Elwy is the founder of the online trading site ArabFinance.com. He subsequently became Chief Financial Officer of regional digital publishing and IT conglomerate, LinkdotNet, where he was responsible for the company’s legal, financial and logistical operations and oversaw LinkdotNet’s expansion plans and restructured the company in preparation for an IPO. Elwy is also the founder and Managing Partner of Pharos Holding for Financial Investments, a full- fledged Investment Bank in Cairo which caters to clients locally, regionally and globally. Elwy holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the American University in Cairo, complemented by an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business with a specialization in finance and management.

Mohamed-Taymour Mohamed Taymour, Founder and Board Director

Mohamed was founder and former Chairman of EFG-Hermes (1980-2005), the leading regional investment firm. Prior to founding EFG-Hermes, Mohamed was Head of Projects Division at the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in Kuwait. He is Chairman of the Egyptian Capital Market Association, a board member of the Capital Market Authority and Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Centre for Economic Studies. He holds a doctorate degree in Systems Analysis from Dartmouth College in the USA and a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Cairo University.

Zeid Imam Zeid Imam, Senior VP, CFA

Prior to joining Akkadia, Zeid was an Associate Relationship Director at Europe Arab Bank Plc, London. During his time there, Zeid was responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of corporate customers that are based in the Middle East with operations across Europe. Preceding that, Zeid spent 4 years at PwC within the Advisory Services- Deals (Valuations & Economics) team. During that time, Zeid was involved in valuation, feasibility and due diligence transactions across multiple sectors across the Middle East.

Zeid received a BEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the American University of Beirut (AUB) and holds an MSc in International Management for the Middle East and North Africa from the University of London- SOAS. Moreover, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Zeid joined Akkadia Partners in June 2014 as a Senior Vice President.
His main responsibility is managing the Iraq Gate Fund (IGF) and identifying investment opportunities. Iraq Gate Fund (IGF) is a long only equity fund and is the only fund managed by an FCA regulated entity operating in Iraq.

Nidal is Group Corporate Finance Manager at Edgo, a regional oil & gas group with operations in a number of countries in the Middle East and Africa in addition to a substantial base in North Rumaila, Iraq. Previously, he was with Global Investment House where he co-founded the MENA Asset Management division that managed 14 mutual funds with $1.2 billion of assets under management. Prior to that he was with Atlas Investment Group where he was a member of the private equity team that managed the Jordan Fund in addition to other funds focused on MENA listed equities. Nidal served on a number of boards of both public and private companies and was a board member of CFA Jordan until 2008. Nidal started his career in the U.S. with Global Insight (now IHS Global Insight) in their economic consulting practice based in Boston. Nidal holds a B.S. and an M.S. degree from Bentley University and an EMBA degree from INSEAD, and he is also a CFA charter holder.
